ABOUT THE FILM

Hélène, a young woman, attempts to make a tarte tatin for her boyfriend’s birthday,
despite her lack of cooking skills. The imperfect dessert becomes a catalyst
for revealing and addressing the underlying issues in their relationship.

Director Statement

With “Rien ne se passe”, I wanted to explore the intimacy of a couple within the safe haven of their home—until that space is quietly invaded by our gaze. The camera becomes a silent observer, not privileged but tentative, adapting to the rhythm of the characters. It hides, lingers, and reveals the gestures we think we conceal: the fleeting moments of frustration, tenderness, or vulnerability that surface when no one seems to be looking.

Ultimately, “Rien ne se passe” is about what we hide—both from ourselves and from those we love most. It’s a glimpse into the fragile balance between pride, love, and the fear of being truly seen.
